Sleater-Kinney - 2004-12-31 - Madison Square Garden, New York

News broke this morning that Sleater-Kinney isn't just back, but their new album is being produced by St Vincent. Naturally, this is like the best news I've gotten since I was told I could start HRT, and I'm fuckin' excited! So excited, in fact, I dug into my hard drive for today's share: a short-but-sweet set of Sleater-Kinney rocking it at New York's MSG on New Year's Eve 2004.

I'm hot and cold on The Woods as a record because I don't think the production's held up too well: it's muddled and messy. But the songs are about as strong as any of their records, which means that live the music just sizzles and rocks. This set is heavy on The Woods, but that's fine, they were touring this record and (I think) opening for Pearl Jam. I like this a bunch, and remember, the BBC Sessions are still up so grab them if you haven't yet!
